Greetings
Dr. Masanori Kameoka, ICHS Management Committee Working Leader
The educational philosophy of Kobe University is mentioned in the educational charter, as follows. “The basic philosophy is to provide internationally outstanding education at both undergraduate and graduate schools in order to contribute to academic development, human well-being, conservation of the global environment and world peace.” To achieve that goal, we have developed an outstanding and unique educational program that allows our students to gain high insight and a global perspective, and we would like to form an “Global Hub Campus”, an international university where excellent researchers and students from both inside and outside the country can gather freely.
The Graduate School of Health Sciences has established an English course" the International Course for Health Sciences (ICHS)" to further cultivate students internationally, acquire excellent students from around the world, and enhance acceptance of international and foreign researchers. It is set up in the master and doctoral program. This is a course that allows graduate students to earn credits in English throughout their study period. Our graduate school has four departments: Nursing, Biophysics, Rehabilitation Science, and Public Health. Students can choose the ICHS program regardless of their department. There are classes in English so that students can earn and complete the required credits that meet the graduation requirements in each department. In addition, in early autumn every year, we invite international and domestic experts to hold a three-day intensive lecture program called “ICHS summer education program”.
This program can further promote communication skills, cross-cultural understanding skills, problem-solving skills, and self-study skills, and can also promote exchange between students at the university and international students. I hope that many students will choose this program, grow into global experts who can practice comprehensive health care, and play an active role on the world stage.
